Interesting points, Blog Bloke. We've taken the community approach to blogging, and have transformed our blog into more of a magazine type functionality. Maybe that makes it remarkable?

I never knew how blogging could take on a life of it's own. Also, I had no idea when I started blogging, everybody and their brother already had a blog. It's been fun and a good way to share my photos. I don't expect too much from it. I have made some friends, like you, and that's a real bonus.
Keep it (blogging) up. Is "blog" a noun or a verb? or both? Teri

Two "thinkers" to ponder over...

Thinker 1: I like to set a goal of being remarkably unremarkable...otherwise known as Unique if you think on it long enough.

That is until everyone else jumps the boat.

Thinker 2: A-listers become A-listers by working their butts off. Fair enough. A-listers remain A-listers by swiping the work from newbies who are now working their butts off to become A-listers.

Thanks Claudia. I'm glad that my verbose post did not bore you. :) My tutorials are generally longer than normal posts.

SEO is of course short for 'Search Engine Optimization' and SERP means 'Search Engine Results Page'. You could start by reading some of my other posts by clicking on the tags and labels at the bottom of my post. Or you can check my sidebar under "categories".

After that, Googling or looking it up in Wikipedia will also find a ton of info. Just beware there are "black hat" SEO types out there who can lead you astray.

I will continue to write more posts about SEO for blogs in the future so stay tuned.

I have to say that I like your come back. The stories are way above the usual norm of 500 words, but they are so in depth and useful it's awesome. I would like to know more about SEO's. could you please elaborate on how you do it? I see you mark your articles on delicious, what else do you do?

TICA MACHA, you are a pure blogger and a rare flower amongst an infestation of weeds. Your check is in the mail too ;-)

Having said that, I have no problem making money blogging, so long as it is done scrupulously and without all the hype.

Advertising 101: Why don't you use Blogger's built-in widget for creating an Adsense module. You will find it in the Template menu and click on "Add a Page Element". It's an easy way to start making money. Down the road I will write more posts about making money blogging.

It's comments like this that make all the effort worth while. Thanks so much.

I'm so glad you are back blogging! I have really missed your insights to this blog thing. Being a "newbie" to the blogsphere, I am baffled by blogging for money. I do it for fun. Probably because I haven't figured out how to make money at it. Money is a good motivator (especially when one is unemployed). For now, mine is just another blog and I blog about whatever strikes my fancy living in Costa Rica. With money out of the equation, it sure changes what motivates me to write. Teri

Hi Jeffro2pt0. Quality is most definitely more important than quantity, but posting frequency also depends on the type of blog. Many out there will argue for or against writing often, but in my opinion it's not that cut and dry.

For example, if your blog is just an online diary for your friends then it probably doesn't really matter. But if you are writing a news blog with breaking headlines then posting frequency will be high for obvious reasons. But for the rest of us, if you write too often then you could become a nuisance clogging up your readers inbox.

For myself, when I'm in the groove I try to write at least once a day, but rarely do I write more than that. Consistency in posting at regular intervals is also desirable, but again will depend on the type of your blog, your schedule and your discipline.

These are all great comments and topics that I will include in future instalments.

Hi Rory. I always look forward to your comments and this one is especially good. You hit the nail on the head that the bigger blogs don't need to worry so much about playing the game because they've already made it. It's like the rich who just keep getting richer and work even less. Such is the world, but for the rest of us mortals playing the game is a necessary evil until we too have arrived.

Hello Blog Bloke, that was some pretty interesting thoughts into what many people probably overlook and that is the post titles. That was some good information you shared.

I'd like to know your opinion on the rule of updating frequently. It seems as though everyone is suffering from some sort of information overload and those who post 5, 10 maybe 20 times a day to their blog don't end up helping much with the problem. Do you think that because of RSS readers and the popularity of RSS in general that perhaps quality is better than quantity?

I'm not entirely certain that you'll have an answer to this, but how do you know if your readers consider you a "remarkable" blogger? Sure, my traffic stats indicate that I'm attracting more readers, but I kinda don't think you can consider that to be an accurate (or full, anyway) indicator of remarkableness...
