I also think the WSIWYG interface with Live Write also gives you a more realistic view of what your post is going to look like than the editor in WP does.
As for me, I enjoy using the WP post editor and find it satisfies my needs. I just keep a tab open in my browser at all times and the preview link works great. I also have a plethora of plugins that have enhanced it's usefulness greatly.
Like I said earlier, software is a personal preference and what works for one person doesn't for another. That doesn't mean that one is necessarily better than the other. Whatever works for you is what is important.
WLW used to be my preferred choice but now that I'm using plugins that modify the usefulness of the WP post editor it's better for me to use it. After I write my article on favourite plugins that I'm using you might also reconsider using WLW like I did.
Different strokes for different folks :)
I recently found a sweet youtube plugin at http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-youtube/
I also have "WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically" unchecked !
Is there a way that I can have uber-control on all the coding ?
< object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/cVHhjWMpC1g&rel=1">< /param></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent">< /param>< embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/cVHhjWMpC1g&rel;=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355" >< /embed>< /object>
Remove everything except for:
http: //www.youtube.com/v/cVHhjWMpC1g&</param>
And make a custom field for it. That's what I do.
