Sure the models look nice, but I cannot imagine a family living in them. It certainly would not be my home. With blogs, you can look at these "experts" for ideas, but in the end it all comes down to how you want to showcase your virtual home.

asithis last blog post...Dim Sum and Income

Re: The Last Word on Minimalist Blogging

All good points there Gem. Design can depend on so many factors including your niche, content, perspective audience, as well as your sex as you point out. ;-)

That's why I love to debunk the so-called design "experts" out there who have such a narrow view on what good blog design should or should not be.

Re: The Last Word on Minimalist Blogging

Everyone's taste in blog design is really different. No one can really dictate what makes a good blog. I prefer bloggers who try to figure things out on what designs really work on their blogs.

I am not a big fan of minimalist designs. I'd probably go for minimalist designs when I blog something about simplicity, like haikus. For womanly blogs, designs that have a lot of pink, flowers or ribbons work well for them. Technology and man blogs are better off in black and blue designs with clean lines (I got criticized on this one). Money making blogs - those 3 column layouts that have those 125x125 ad spaces that will fit any money making ads that they can think of.

Some big bloggers simply ignore comments about how bad their site is designed because majority of their readers appreciate the content more than the design of their blog.

I could not resist to comment =)

Gems last blog post...Other Sites that Lets You Earn Money From Blogging
